If you need to convert between different measurement systems Excel has just the function for you, called CONVERT.

I won't share your email with anyone.

In the image below there are some examples using common conversions.

Syntax

CONVERT(number, from_unit, to_unit)

number – a value or a link to a cell that has a value to be converted.

from_unit – the text code the represents the unit to converts from. If entered in the formula the text must be enclosed in quotation marks. You can link to a cell with the text in it as per the examples above.

to_unit – the text code the represents the unit to convert to. If entered in the formula the text must be enclosed in quotation marks. You can link to a cell with the text in it as per the examples

If you try to convert measures that are in a different measurement group an #N/A error is displayed eg kg (kilograms) to in (inches).

In the example, which you can download at the link below, I have included lists of the different groups of codes you can use for each measure.

Note: some measures have separate codes for liquid (oz = fluid ounce) and mass (ozm = weight).
