Following a Link in Excel

Excel has a keyboard shortcut to follow a linked cell to its source. The problem is that the shortcut works for the first link in the formula. To follow the second or third link you must use another technique.

The keyboard shortcut to follow a cell link is Ctrl + [.

To return to where you where press F5 and then press Enter.

To follow the second or third link follow these steps.

1.    Edit the formula in the Formula Bar. Press F2 function key to edit a cell or double click the cell.

2.    In the Formula Bar use the mouse to select the link to follow. Make sure you include the whole link reference.

3.      Press the F5 function key this opens the Go To dialog and press Enter to follow the link.

4.      This takes you to the linked cell/range. Be careful as you are still editing the formula. Don’t press the arrow keys as that will adjust the reference. Press the Esc key to return and stop editing.
